The palace proudly displays an extraordinary collection of royal artefacts and furnishings. Among the notable items are a palanquin, a finely carved thoni for ayurvedic massages, and a variety of lamps. MADURAI MEENAKSHI TEMPLE REPLICA

Situated in Meenachil Taluk, Kottayam, the Poonjar Palace was once the seat of the ancient Poonjar Kingdom. The dynasty, associated with the Travancore Royal family, traces its origins to the Pandyan Kings of the Sangam Age. Founded by Manavikrama Kulasekara Perumal, the dynasty shifted from Madurai in 1152 AD, carrying one of the three idols of Meenakshi and establishing it in the Meenakshi Temple on the banks of the Meenachil River.
