Mahindra-backed Classic Legends has introduced the Jawa 42 FJ, a new neo-classic motorcycle in India, priced at Rs 1,99,142 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Aimed at expanding the company’s market presence, the Jawa 42 FJ brings retro design elements combined with modern technology, setting its sights on rivals like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Honda H’ness CB350.
The Jawa 42 FJ is equipped with a 350cc engine, offering 30 brake horsepower (bhp), significantly more powerful than its competitors. The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 produces 20.2 bhp, and the Honda H’ness CB350 offers a similar output, making the Jawa 42 FJ stand out in terms of performance.
CLASSIC DESIGN MEETS MODERN FEATURES
True to its neo-classic roots, the Jawa 42 FJ showcases a retro-inspired design, featuring a round LED headlight, tubular handlebars, and bar-end mirrors. The bike is available in five paint schemes: red, brown, blue, black, and green, offering a variety of choices for customers looking for a stylish ride.
Classic Legends has added practical features like telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, and disc brakes on both the front and rear, along with dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. The base trim comes with spoke wheels and tubed tires, while the higher-spec version is equipped with alloy wheels and tubeless tires.
The brushed aluminium finish further enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the bike, making it a head-turner on the road.
COMPETITIVE PRICING AND VARIANTS
Priced between Rs 1,99,142 and Rs 2,20,142, the Jawa 42 FJ is offered in six variants, catering to different customer preferences. Despite its powerful engine and premium features, the Jawa 42 FJ is competitively priced to challenge the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Honda H’ness CB350 in the growing neo-classic market.
ADVANCED FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGY
In addition to the LED headlight, the Jawa 42 FJ features an off-set digital console, offering a modern touch to the otherwise retro design. The base variant is equipped with single-channel ABS, while the higher trims offer dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety and control. A standout feature is the liquid cooling system, which is not found in most of its competitors, giving the bike an edge in terms of engine performance and longevity.
EXPANSION PLANS FOR CLASSIC LEGENDS
Classic Legends is also focusing on expanding its service and dealer network across India. Thareja revealed that the company has invested Rs 350 crore of the Rs 1,000 crore raised, with further plans to boost production and improve customer service. The company plans to open 100 new service stations and expand its dealer network in time for the upcoming festive season, ensuring better accessibility for its growing customer base.
JAWA 42 FJ: PART OF A GROWING PORTFOLIO
The Jawa 42 FJ is the 10th model launched by Classic Legends since its inception. It is part of a broader strategy to attract a younger audience, joining the Jawa 42 and Yezdi Roadster in the neo-classic segment. The company aims to cater to a wider range of customers, with these models offering a blend of nostalgia and modern performance.
