Young @ 93

lawyer

He is 93 years old but still going strong with a sharp memory. He is none other than senior lawyer K Prasaran, who had appeared for the Hindu side in the Ayodhya case. Age has not deterred this nonagenarian in appearing for all the hearings that lasted about eight months.

Assisted by a group of young lawyers, he always had a sitting with his associates every day and worked on every aspect of the case before the hearing started in the Supreme Court.

His associates were always thrilled to see that a man of his genius was leading them and discussing every aspect of the case with them.

K. Parasaran was born in 1927. He was Advocate-General of Tamil Nadu in 1976 and also Attorney General of India In Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi Governments. He is a recipient of Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He was also a member of Rajya Sabha.

The Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case is regarding the ownership of the land at Ayodhya. It also deals with whether a temple could be built in the disputed land where once Babri Masjid earlier stood. It was on December 6, 1992 that some Hindu Groups demolished the 16th century Babri Masjid mosque at the disputed land.
