Wear mask and be part “Wear a Mask Challenge”

US Wants Mask In Public Places

From Friday, August 7, the world is going to see a “Wear Mask Challenge”, which calls for creating awareness for increasing the use of face mask in the public. The WHO along with Pandemic Action Network, CDC and CDC Foundation, Facebook, Google, Global Citizen and others announced the launch of the World Mask Week.

Announcing the launch of the “Wear Mask Challenge” week, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said “World Mask Week starts on Friday and today WHO is launching our new Wear Mask Challenge and I am urging you all to wear a mask that covers your nose, mouth and chin,”

“By wearing a mask, you are not only protecting yourself but sending message of solidarity and protecting other people, especially those most vulnerable to the virus,” he said.

“Every day I carry two things with me wherever I go. Hand sanitizers so that I can keep my hands clean and a Mask so that I can protect myself and others from Covid – 19. Keep physical distancing, keep cleaning your hands, keep away from big crowds and keep covering your mouth and nose when you cough. We all need to play a role in breaking the chains of transmission and brining this pandemic under control,” the WHO Chief said.

He urged the people to join the Wear a Mask Challenge and take a photo or a video of wearing a mask and share it on the social media and nominate friends to do the mask challenge. “We are the ones that can end this pandemic. So wear a mask, do it all , save lives,” Tedros said.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging people and organizations around the world to rally behind the importance of wearing a mask to stop the spread of the deadly virus. People can show their support by sharing a statement, picture or video on social media, tagged with #WorldMaskWeek.
