As the world is on the run to develop a vaccine for coronavirus, Russia has become the first country to successfully complete the first human trial of coronavirus. Reports quoting Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology director Vadim Tarasov said that they have completed the trial of the vaccine on humans.
The Sechenov University has successfully completed tests on volunteers of the world`s first vaccine against coronavirus, Tarasov was quoted as saying. The university had begun clinical trials on June 18. The first group of volunteers would be discharged on July 15 and the second on July 20, the director said.
Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Russia developed the vaccine. The reports said that the data from Gamalei National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology showed that the persons of the first and second groups have developed immune response after vaccine was given to them.
Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector-Borne Diseases director at Sechenov University Alexander Lukashev said that the safety of the vaccine was confirmed.
Russia had given permission to clinical trials for two forms of vaccines. The first vaccine is said to be a in a solution form for intramuscular administration. This vaccine was underwent clinical trials at the Burdenko Military Hospital. The second one is in the form of powder for preparing a solution and the test was carried out at the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University
As per the WHO, about 21 vaccines are under trials.
