Celebrated Jury to Adjudicate at 54th IFFI

The 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa showcases cinematic brilliance with 15 exceptional films vying for the prestigious Golden Peacock Award. This elite selection comprises 12 international and 3 Indian films, each a testament to the artistry and diversity of global cinema.

Renowned filmmakers, cinematographers, and film producers from around the world are set to compose the International Jury for the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Their task involves evaluating entries in the International Competition and selecting the recipient of the Best Debut Feature Film of a Director Award. This year, the festival received an unprecedented 2926 entries from 105 countries.

‘INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION’ Highlights

The ‘INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION’ segment features a carefully curated selection of 15 distinguished feature films across various genres. These films represent the evolving aesthetics and political narratives in cinema, showcasing both established masters and emerging voices. The International Jury will decide the winner of the prestigious Best Film Award, including the Golden Peacock and a monetary prize of 40 L INR, along with certificates for the director and producer.

Categories and Recognition – Beyond the Best Film

In addition to the Best Film Award, the International Jury will play a crucial role in determining winners across categories such as Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female), and the Special Jury Prize.

The ‘COMPETITION FOR BEST DEBUT FEATURE FILM OF A DIRECTOR’ presents seven debutants vying for the esteemed Silver Peacock, along with a 10 L INR monetary reward and a certificate. This collection showcases the visions of the next generation of filmmakers and their debut works.

Shekhar Kapur (Filmmaker) – Chairman, Jury

Acclaimed filmmaker, actor, and producer

Recipient of numerous awards, including Padma Shri, National Film Award, and BAFTA Award

Former member of Cannes International Jury (2010) & IFFI Jury Chairman (2015)

José Luis Alcaine (Cinematographer)

Pioneer in using a fluorescent tube as key lighting

Collaborated on award-winning films with directors like Pedro Almodóvar

Jerome Paillard (Film Producer & Ex-head of Film Market)

Extensive experience in classical music, artistic direction, and film production

Served as Executive Director of the Marché du Film at the Festival de Cannes from 1995 to 2022
