A yellow turtle, which is one of the rarest species in the world, was spotted in Balasore in Odisha, India. The villagers spotted the rare turtle and handed over to the forest officials.
Reports quoting wildlife experts said that this could be albino mutation of a common turtle. Albinism is a rare genetic disorder that can affect several animals, where there is little or no production of pigment in the skin, eyes and hair.
The Forest officials said that it was the first time in Odisha and second time in India that an albino Turtle was spotted. The colour of skull and body are yellow and as such it is the rarest of the rare, an official said. Soon after the finding, the yellow turtle became a sensation in the social media.
In the same region, another rare turtle was also spotted a few days back. This was Trionychidae turtle that is a softshell turtle. This turtle is usually found in North America, Africa and Asia and North America.
