The school going children in Kerala will have to wear face mask continuously for the next academic year. Not only the children but the teachers should also have to wear masks. This was stated by State Health Minister K K Shylaja.
The use of mask will continue as it is a precaution against Covid 19. The mask rule will not continue but all school going children should use it for this academic year, she said. The use of mask has become a practise for children in many countries, she added.
The schools in Kerala are closed for the summer vacation since May 2020. The state is yet to finish the board exams for Class X and XII. The officials said that the dates for the examination be announced after the lock down is lifted.
The Government has entrusted Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK) to make the masks. About 50 lakh mask will be distributed to children in public schools. Each student will get two masks. The masks will be made of cloth and washable. The government plans to distribute them along with the distribution of uniforms. The SSK was asked to make masks adhering to standard quality.
