Who has not laughed when Mr Bean  appeared on screen? But this time Mr Bean comes on to the screen for not just making you laugh but to remind you the importance of social distancing and washing hands. With coronavirus cases increasing around the world, the World Health Organisation has partnered with Mr Bean to launch a Public Service Announcement.

The PSA features a cartoon sketch of Mr Bean comically tackling a pesky roller blind to finally reveal a number of essential tips to protect people against COVID-19, an official release said.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that Coronavirus affects every person and all tools and avenues should be used to share life saving information. “I am grateful for the support of the team behind Mr Bean for lending your voice and talents to spread vital advice on physical distancing, hygiene and knowing the symptoms, he said.

Mr Bean star Rowan Atkinson has given voice to Public Service Announcement. Mr Bean was originally broadcast in the 1990s before it was converted into an animated series. Ever since it has wide popularity and another aspect is that Mr Bean also celebrates his 30th anniversary this year.

The PSA is done by Project Everyone, a not-for-profit agency of Richard Curtis working to put the power of communications behind the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Richard Curtis said that they were delighted to work along with the WHO for spreading the message of health awareness.
