L2 Empuraan Shatters Box Office Records Before Release

Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan sets a new box office record with record-breaking ticket sales before release, marking a milestone for Malayalam cinema.

Indian cinema is witnessing history as Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan dominates the box office before release. The film’s record-breaking ticket sales prove that Mollywood is now a major player in the industry.

For years, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil films have led the Indian box office. But L2: Empuraan is changing the game. It is the first Malayalam film to achieve such massive pre-release ticket sales.

Advance booking opened on March 2, the film was selling tickets at an astonishing 96,000 per hour. No other Indian film has reached this number before release. With many regions yet to open bookings, sales may soon cross 100,000 per hour.

MOLLYWOOD’S FIRST LARGE-SCALE PAN-INDIA FILM

Malayalam cinema is known for its strong storytelling. Yet, it has rarely produced large-scale commercial films. L2: Empuraan is changing that. It is Mollywood’s first big-budget Pan-India film, reaching beyond Kerala’s borders.

Now, most ticket sales are in Kerala. But demand is expected to grow nationwide. Its predecessor, Lucifer (2019), was a huge hit on television in dubbed versions, making L2: Empuraan highly anticipated.

A DEFINING MOMENT FOR INDIAN CINEMA

Malayalam films have delivered major box office hits in recent years. But no film has created a buzz like L2: Empuraan. This record-breaking moment signals a shift in Indian cinema.

For decades, Bollywood, Telugu, and Tamil films dominated the market. Now, Mollywood has proved it can compete on a national level. The success of L2: Empuraan highlights the growing demand for Malayalam films across India.

THE POWERHOUSE BEHIND L2: EMPURAAN

The film is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who also plays a crucial role. It is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies.

Mohanlal reprises his role as Khureshi-Ab’raam / Stephen Nedumpally. The ensemble cast includes Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, and Sachin Khedekar.

L2: Empuraan is set to release on March 27 in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.

A MILESTONE FOR MOLLYWOOD’S FUTURE

Mollywood has always been known for high-quality cinema. Now, it is making history at the box office. The film is proving that Malayalam films can dominate commercially across India.

With an eagerly awaited Pan-India release, the industry is watching closely. If L2: Empuraan maintains its momentum, it could redefine the future of Malayalam cinema.
