Do you love mangoes? Then there is good news for you. Women who eat more mangoes can get rid of the wrinkles, according to a recent study by the University of California.
The study claimed that Ataulfo mangoes can reduce wrinkles on older women. Nutrients Journal carried the study in its latest edition.
In the study, the researchers found that postmenopausal women who ate a half cup of Ataulfo mangoes four times a week showed a decrease of 23 per cent of wrinkles in two months. It also showed a 20 per cent decrease after four months. However, lead author Vivien Fam said that the results also come with a precaution. The researchers said that women who ate one and a half cup of the mangoes for the same period showed an increase of the wrinkles. Fam said that mangoes could be good for the skin but too much can also do damages.
Though it is yet to trace why eating more mangoes causes wrinkles, the researchers assume that it could be because of the sugar content in it.
The study was held in 28 postmenopausal women with Fitzpatrick skin types II or III. They were divided into two groups. One group ate half a glass of mangoes and the other group one and a half four times a week for four month.
In the study, the researchers also looked at the severity of the wrinkles. Fam said that further studies were needed to ascertain the reason behind the reduction of wrinkles.
