Kerala on Tuesday, March 9, confirmed 2316 Covid 19 cases and the test positivity rate stood at 3.51.
Kottayam district reported the highest number of 279 cases. Kozhikode district recorded the second largest number of Covid 19 cases of 267. When Thrissur reported 244 cases, Ernakulam had 231 cases. The other cases in the districts are Kollam 213, Pathanamthitta 198, Kannur 178, Thiruvananthapuram 160, Malappuram 142, Alappuzha 98, Idukki 92, Palakkad 77, Kasaragod 73 and Wayanad 64.
UK
No one from the United Kingdom tested positive in the last 24 hours, health officials said. Ninety-eight people from the UK who recently came to the state tested positive for the infection until now. Apart from this, two persons who arrived from South Africa also tested positive, they said. Of these, 83 tested negative and 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
SAMPLES TESTED
In the last 24 hours, 65,906 samples were tested. The officials also confirmed on Tuesday that 16 deaths in the last few days were Covid related ones. The death toll stood at 4328 in the state.
An official statement said that 48 of those diagnosed with the disease on Tuesday were from outside the state. It said that 2100 people got the infection through contact. The disease affected 21 health workers.
The health officials said that 1,66,107 people are under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these,1,60,898 are under home/ institutional quarantine and 5209 in hospital surveillance.
COVID VACCINE
The health department officials said that the state has got 21,68,830 doses of Covishield vaccines on Tuesday. Thiruvananthapuram will get 7,34,500 doses of vaccine. Ernakulam will get 8,53,330 doses and Kozhikode 5,81,000 doses. The state received 48,960 doses of Covaxin the other day. In addition, more than 21 lakh doses of vaccine are available. With this, the officials said that they can carry out extensive vaccination at more Centers.
