Waste disposal has always been a problem and it has become a Himalayan task with everyone wearing face mask now. But a Kerala based start up has come up with an answer to the problem. The Cochin based VST Mobility Solutions, has launched BIN – 19 in association with Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) for the proper disposal of face masks.
BIN-19 is UV based face mask disposal bin technology from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. The IoT-based BIN-19 (Internet of Things) is used for collecting and disinfecting Used Face Mask. The device has been subjected to a series of successful microbiological tests by Sree Chitra Lab. Sree Chitra is one of the testing agency for UV based devices in the country as per the guidelines of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Launching the face mask bin by installing a unit at his office, Ernakulam District Collector S Suhas said this was the first time such a facility was available in Kerala. The device will help in beating coronavirs and prevent environmental damages. Meanwhile, SCTIMST Director Dr. Asha Kishore said that the devices will be very handy in offices, homes, and other public places. It would add to the efforts to break the chain of contagion of coronavirus, she said.
VST Mobility Solutions CEO Alvin George said that the used masks can be dropped inside a container of the bin. This will be first disinfected and transferred to another container inside the Bin. Those who drop the masks can sanitize their hands with the help of the automatic sanitizer dispenser attached to the Bin-19. All functions are automated in the hands-free equipment for safety.
VST Mobility Solutions also launched UV SPOT, a UV light-based multipurpose disinfector. It is a multipurpose disinfector device with ultraviolet disinfection lamps.
