Kerala on Thursday, February 11, reported 5281 covid cases and the test positivity rate stood at 7.37.
The state also reported 16 deaths in the last days and the total Covid related death stood 3936, Health Minister K K Shylaja said.
Pathanamthitta reported the highest number of 694 Covid 19 cases. Ernakulam with 632 Covid 19 cases was in the second place. While Kozhikode reported 614 cases, Kollam had 579, Malappuram 413, Kottayam 383, Thrissur 375, Alappuzha 342, Thiruvananthapuram 293, Kannur 251, Palakkad 227, Idukki 196, Wayanad 180 and Kasaragod 102 Covid 19 cases.
Test positivity rate comes down
Of the 81 people who recently came from the UK, 70 tested negative. Ten people among them were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
In the last 24 hours, 71,656 samples were tested. A total of 1,03,65,859 samples were tested in the state till now that included routine sample test, Sentinel sample test, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RTLAMP and Antigen tests.
Of the infected persons in the last 24 hours, 106 came from outside. The persons infected through contact stood at 4783. The source of infection in 360 people is unknown.
Thirty-two health workers were got affected. In Kannur, nine health workers got the virus. Five health workers in Ernakulam , three each Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode, two each in Malappuram, Wayanad and Kasaragod and one health worker each in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Thrissur were diagnosed for the disease.
16 deaths reported
About 2.36 lakh people are under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,25,803 are under home/institutional quarantine and 10,382 in hospitals. A total of 1128 people were admitted to the hospital today.
When three new hotspots were declared on February 11, seven areas were excluded from the hotspot. There are currently 455 hotspots across the state.
