‘Thuppalle Thottupokum’ (don’t spit you will fail), this is the new slogan in Kerala with the State government launching the Break the Chain 2. Kerala Chief Minister said that it was time for Break the Chain 2 to begin with the Break the Chain 1 giving promising results.
Apart from the campaign not to spit in public, the other measures adopted in Break the Chain 1 will continue in the second phase. Wearing of mask, social distancing and restrictions on vehicles and gatherings will continue in phase two of the break the chain. Break the Chain 2 aims at educating the people about the importance of public and personal hygiene.
Kerala will have two districts each in the green and red zones and ten others in the Orange Zone from May 3, the day the second lock down across the country ends. The Centre said that Ernakulam and Waynad are placed in the green zone. Kottaym and Kannur are now placed in the red zone. The Centre has already sent communications to the state secretaries with respect to the relaxations after May 3.
The first phase of Break the Chain was launched in March. During the phase, hand washing and social distancing were given priority. As per the campaign, water taps were placed in public places as well as at entry and exit points of offices, banks, and several other institutions. People were also asked to use sanitizers while going out.
