It is only a matter of few days that late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s aide K Sasikala will come out of the Bangalore Jail where she is imprisoned in a disproportionate assets case. This comes after a fine of Rs ten crore imposed on her was remitted by her relatives.
The scheduled date for Sasikala’s release is on January 27, 2021. Citing remission norms for good character, Sasikala’s counsel N Raja Senthoor Pandian was reported to have said that they expected the release to be earlier than the scheduled date .
Apart from Sasikala, two of her relatives are undergoing simple imprisonment of four years in the assets case in the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. Sasiakala and her relatives are undergoing imprisonment from 2017 after the Supreme Court restored the Bengaluru trial court judgment in toto against the assets case. The case against Jayalalithaa was abated her death in 2016.
Well, the fine for Sassikala was remitted but who paid the amount? According to sources, her relatives paid the fine. Reports said that Sasikala’s brother in law Palanivel paid about Rs.3.25 crores, his wife Vasanthi Devi gave Rs.3.50 crore. Hema, wife of Saiskala’s nephew Dr Venkatesh’s gave Rs.3 crores, the reports said. Another nephew Vivek Jayaraman gave the administrative fee of Rs.10,000.
