India continues to be the biggest source market for Dubai with 1.39 million Indians travelling to the Middle East city during the first nine months of 2019.
Summer tourists led Dubai’s tourism momentum, as the city welcomed 12.08 million international overnight visitors in the first nine months of 2019, according to Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).
The Dubai Tourism authorities have collaborated Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan to promote the city and it was one of the major triggers for making India the top market. Besides, the government had exempted children under 18 from visa fees during the summer months, which increased the number of incoming Indian families with children by a substantial 13 per cent when compared to 2018 during the same period.
According to the information released by the authorities, Saudi Arabia registered a two per cent year-on-year growth for over 1.25 million visitors. After India and Saudi, UK remained Dubai’s third largest market with 851,000 visitors.
Oman (778,000 visitors), China (729,000 tourists), the United States (481,000 visitors), and Russia 433,000 visitors) were the other key markets for Dubai.
Philippines, one of the fastest-growing feeder markets, came into the top 10 with a 29 per cent increase delivering 352,000 visitors.
