The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), based in Hyderabad, has been awarded the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2025 in the Institutional Category. This recognition honors the organization’s outstanding contributions to disaster management, particularly in mitigating ocean-related hazards.

Instituted by the Government of India, this annual award celebrates exceptional efforts in disaster management by individuals and institutions. It carries a cash prize of ₹51 lakh and a certificate for institutional winners.

The award, announced annually on January 23, commemorates the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The award was established under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It highlights selfless service and innovation in disaster management across India.

For the 2025 award, nominations were accepted from July 1, 2024, with significant promotion through various media platforms. A total of 297 nominations were received from both institutions and individuals.

Founded in 1999, INCOIS specializes in early alerts for ocean-related disasters. The Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC) provides tsunami alerts within 10 minutes. It serves India and 28 other Indian Ocean countries. Recognized by UNESCO as a leading Tsunami Service Provider, the ITEWC exemplifies global excellence.
