The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, tops the QS 2020 University rankings in the country followed by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
In this second edition of QS ranking, IIT Madras was placed in the fourth position, IIT Kharagpur in the fifth and IIT Kanpur in the sixth place. While the University of Delhi was in the seventh place, the University o Hyderabad took the eighth position. IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati were placed in the ninth and tenth places.
In the state run universities, Calcutta University topped the ranking and Jadavpur University came in the second place.
Quacquarelli Symonds or widely known as QS is a world higher education think tank. The rankings are for Public, private and deemed Universities as well as other Higher Education Institutions.
The rankings were decided by a methodology using eight indicators like academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, proportion of staff with PhD, papers per faculty, citations per paper, proportion of international students and proportion of international faculty.
