Actor Hrithik Roshan and his ex-wife Sussanne Khan have set an example for many, not just for their fans. They burried their differences to take care of the children at a time when children need their parents very much to survive the current crisis of coronavirus.
Sussanne Khan had come back home during the lockdown and now both are playing their part well as parents, which should be an eye-opener for many couples who cannot overcome their egos and petty issues even if in the face of crisis.
In a recent note for Vogue, she wrote that it was the ‘intelligent and soulful’ move. “We realised early on that the days ahead would require us to regroup our energies towards creating serenity for one another. With that thought in mind, and a heap full of love, we started on our lockdown adventure,” she said.
Sussanne wrote that on the first day itself, they sat down as a family and made a list of activities — they called them ‘quarantivities’ — they could do. “The idea was to structure our days in such a way that we grow our minds, warm our hearts and keep our bodies fit and strong—where we have no option but to use a little creativity and innovation to enjoy our days without a sense of monotony seeping through,” she continued.
Both their sons — Hridaan and Hrehaan — are also reportedly enjoying the time with the parents together, after a long time. The family sit together and spend time, apart from their personal engagements to negotiate through the crisis.
“It’s a wake-up call for all of us to learn from, as well as an awakening to look at things from a different point of view. To cherish the bond that we share with our loved ones and work colleagues. To strive to be in service of people when and where we can, and to practice selfless and random acts of kindness, and to be more mindful of those around us. And to give more time to making beautiful memories,” she wrote.
Actor-turned-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, father of Hrithik, also had good words about it: “The world has to be together and supportive in difficult times.”
Hrithik also was moved by the gesture of his former wife. “It is unimaginable for me, as a parent, to think of having to be separated from my children at a time when the country is practicing lockdowns. It is heartwarming to see the world come together as one in this time of deep uncertainty and possibility of months of social distancing and potential lockdowns for several weeks perhaps . .
He further wrote, “While the world talks about humanity coming together, I think it represents more than just an idea especially for parents sharing custody of their kids. How to keep their kids close to them without infringing on the right of the other who also has an equal right to be with his/her children.”
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, who were childhood sweethearts and got married in 2000, got divorced in 2014. They continue to be friends and co-parent their two sons.
