Hollywood beckons more Indian tourists

The Los Angeles, the seat of Hollywood, is all out to welcome more Indian tourists. The tourism authorities have launched many new initiatives to further cash on the growing interest among the Indians who still make one of the top five markets for Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board has opened an office in Mumbai, making it the U.S. destination marketer to have its promotional office in India while others work through agencies.

The trigger for more attention towards Indian tourists is the potential growth in the number of Indian arrivals. This year, around 136,000 Indians are expected to visit the land of Hollywood, making growth rate of 4.4 % over 2018. Last year, India had the fourth-highest growth rate of inbound travellers to L.A. among all international markets, behind Brazil, Italy, and Spain. Los Angeles tourism authorities are expecting that the growth rate would peak by 2020, making India the number one market.

India is a top 10 source market for the U.S. Just under 1.4 million Indian residents last year traveled to the U.S, as per the official figures. The air connectivity via the Middle East has helped the numbers grow in the last two years.

The Hollywood connection has created a high brand awareness for Los Angeles in India and the authorities are now trying to further engage the local influencers to woo more Indians.
