The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently sounded an alarm about the potential surge in dengue infections worldwide due to global warming’s impact. As temperatures rise, precipitation increases, and droughts become more extended, the risk of dengue outbreaks intensifies.

WHO expert Dr. Raman Velayudhan, points out that dengue’s incidence has grown exponentially worldwide, escalating from half a million cases in 2000 to over 4.2 million in 2022. This is an eight-fold increase. Asia bears the brunt, accounting for 70% of the global disease burden. Europe also faces an increasing risk due to the Aedes mosquito’s presence in approximately 22 countries since 2010.
