Every 12 minutes, one person is killed in Gaza and July 2025 was the deadliest month since early last year, says a new analysis from Islamic Relief. That equates to an average of 119 Palestinians every day—mostly women, children, and displaced families.
As violence escalates, doctors report the highest injury rate since December 2023, with more than 400 Palestinians wounded every single day. Tragically, starvation is also spreading fast. This week alone, 19 people, mainly children, reportedly died from hunger within a single 24-hour period.
SYSTEMATIC STARVATION AND MILITARISED FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Since late June, Israel has imposed a militarised food aid scheme. As a result, people are being shot while trying to collect essential supplies.
Almost daily massacres occur near aid trucks. Ambulances are blocked from reaching victims. Donkey carts now carry wounded civilians through destroyed streets. This is more than a humanitarian failure—it is a man-made famine. Hunger is weaponised, and starvation is used to control and terrorise civilians.
CIVILIANS FACE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICES AMID ESCALATING VIOLENCE
Families are being told to evacuate their homes only to be bombed inside refugee tents. Survival itself has become a deadly risk.
Children searching for food are shot. Parents carrying medicine are targeted. Aid workers, doctors, teachers, and poets have all become casualties in this war. The UN data shows a staggering 9% of Gaza’s pre-war population is either dead or wounded. At least 59,000 have died since the crisis began.
CHILDREN BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE CATASTROPHE
UNICEF reports that 28 children are being killed daily. Meanwhile, 10 more children each day lose limbs from missiles and artillery strikes.
This is not a temporary tragedy; it is the destruction of an entire generation. Children are starving, amputated, orphaned, and left without protection. Most of the victims are civilians. Schools, hospitals, and shelters are no longer safe. This level of devastation violates every principle of humanitarian law.
ISLAMIC RELIEF DEMANDS INTERNATIONAL ACTION NOW
Waseem Ahmad, CEO of Islamic Relief Worldwide, says the time for inaction has passed. Each hour that world leaders wait, five more people are killed. “We see people massacred while collecting food. Babies are starving. Aid is blocked. Gaza’s entire society is being killed, and no one is spared,” he said.
Ahmad urges governments to reject militarised aid schemes, restore UN-led humanitarian efforts, and place real pressure on Israel to end the violence.
A CALL TO END COMPLICITY AND UPHOLD INTERNATIONAL LAW
According to the International Court of Justice, states have a legal duty to prevent genocide. Silence and inaction now amount to complicity.
Words of concern are no longer enough. Governments must suspend arms sales, end trade agreements, and ban goods from illegal Israeli settlements immediately. Only sustained international pressure can end the blockade, restore aid access, and stop the mass killing of civilians in Gaza.
EVERY MINUTE COSTS LIVES — ACT NOW
Gaza’s suffering cannot be allowed to become normal. The world must act now to stop the bloodshed, restore aid, and save innocent lives.
Every delay results in more dead children, more starving families, and more war crimes. The time for moral clarity and decisive action is now.
