Mumbai, popularly known as the city of dreams and Hyderabad known as the city of pearls have got the rare distinction to be included in the UNESCO list of Creative City tag. While Mumbai was designated as the creative city of film, Hyderabad has been listed as the creative city of gastronomy.
Apart from these two cities, Chennai and Jaipur also figures in the Creative City list in Music, and craft and folk arts respectively. UNESCO has come up with the creative city list on the World Cities day.
With joining the creative cities network, the cities are committed to share their practises and also developing partnerships. This has been envisaged for strengthening creation and dissemination of cultural activities. They also have to develop hubs of innovation and creativity. Apart from this, they should also broaden opportunities for professionals and creators in the field of culture.
UNESCO has given the creative tag to 66 cities
