For Saiyad, Sanskrit is everything

Sanskrit

You might have heard about Sanskrit professor Feroze Khan facing resistance over his appointment in Banaras Hindu University (BHU). But Saiyad in Vadodara, who has been teaching Sanskrit, has not faced any resistance for the last 22 years of his teaching.

A teacher of the MES Boys School, he has not faced any resistance from his own community or the Hindu community. Saiyad’s students also include Muslims and they chant Sanskrit shlokas with all perfection.

Saiyad’s daughter Izma Banu, who s now studying MBBS at Baroda Medical College, had scored 98 per cent of marks in Sanskrit. He said that he had 166 students who are learning Sanskrit in class class IX.

Noting that there were no boundaries for learning any language, he said that the person who teaches is not important but the important aspect is how he teaches in the right way. Saiyad, who is in his forties, makes sure that all his students enjoy learning the language.

Saiyad had grown up chanting Sanskrit shlokas. When he joined the school in 1998, only a few students opted Sanskrit.  However, the students increased in years and now there were more than a hundred students who learn Sanskrit.
