The World Health Organisation has reiterated that easing lock downs will not end the coronavirus pandemic and called for detecting testing and isolating coronavirus cases.
“The WHO want to re-emphasize that easing restrictions is not the end of the epidemic in any country,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. He emphasised the deadly virus can be contained only through that a sustained effort from people, communities and Governments.
He said that the WHO has repeatedly prioritized the ramping up of production and distribution of tests. Meanwhile, he welcomed the development and validation of tests to detect antibodies. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the agency provided all technical, scientific and financial support for studies carried out around the world.
Moreover, he also said that this weekend’s global musical celebration honouring health workers on the frontline of COVID-19 raised more than 127 million dollars. The ‘One World, Together at Home’ event also roped in another 55 million dollars for The Solidarity Response Fund
