In a bid to get rid of plastics and also to save the city from plastic menace, the Hisar city corporation has come up with a unique idea of roping in the Dhabas (way side eateries) to clean up the city of plasticsh. The corporation officials has taken the initiative after it was found that the junk dealers stopped accepting plastic bottles after plastics were banned in the city.

With plastics bottles pilling up in the city, the corporation had taken the new way of attracting the people in getting rid of plastic bottles.

The Corporation approached the Dhaba owners and asked them to provide a meal of chapatti, dal and salad for anyone who comes to them with twenty plastic bottles. As a first step, four Dhabas were approached and two of them agreed. Hunda ram Ji ka Shudha Vaishno and Janata Bhojnalaya are the two way side eateries that have agreed to provide the meal for the twenty plastic bottles.

The Corporation officials said that the plastic bottles that are collected would be used to plant saplings.

Though it is over a month that the idea was introduced, only a few people have taken the token meal for exchange of plastic bottles. The authorities and the Dhaba owners believe that more people would be using the barter system in the coming days for a cleaner environment
