With Covid 19 cases increasing in Tamil Nadu, the state government on Thursday announced a slew of restrictions, including banning religious events from April 10. The decision was taken after Chief Secretary Rajeev Ranjan held a meeting with officials of various departments to discuss the restrictions to be imposed.
In the meeting with public health and medical experts, they observed that restrictions should be imposed along with other measures to curb the increase of the pandemic. The Government on 08/04/21 issued the order brining in restrictions.
COVID-19 cases are close to 4,000 per day in the state.
Restrictions
- Those travelling from other states and countries need E-pass.
- Public worship in religious places only till 8 pm.
- No restrictions on industries and private companies. However, they were asked to ensure that the employees wear face masks, follow social distancing and all the SOPs are followed.
- Retail outlets in Koyambedu wholesale vegetable and fruit market in Chennai and whole vegetable and fruit markets in other parts of the state not to function
- Complete lockdown in containment zones across the state.
- No commuter to travel standing stand in Metropolitan Transport Corporation and private buses in Chennai. Commuters not to travel standing in buses to Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
- All shops, including vegetable and grocery shops, shopping malls, showrooms and textile and jewellery stores permitted to function with only 50 per cent capacity till
- Restaurants and teashops can function with 50 per cent sitting capacity till Il pm. Restaurants can have parcel service only till 11pm.
- Recreation clubs permitted with 50 per cent capacity.
- Entertainment parks/amusement parks, conference halls, zoological parks and museums permitted with 50 per cent capacity.
- All cinema halls, multiplexes with one or more screens and those in shopping malls permitted with 50 per cent capacity.
- Social, political, educational, entertainment, sports, cultural and other events in indoor stadiums permitted with a maximum of 200 persons.
- Marriage events allowed with a maximum ceiling of 100 people.
- Fifty people can participate in funera
- Sports stadiums and playgrounds permitted without an audience. Sports training alone permitted in swimming pools.
- TV serial and film shooting permitted, but the management should ensure the crew and cast get RT-PCR tests.
- Cabs/taxis allowed with only three passengers other than driver. Two passengers other than driver permitted in autorickshaws.
