With Covid 19 cases increasing in Tamil Nadu, the state government on Thursday announced a slew of restrictions, including banning religious events from April 10. The decision was taken after Chief Secretary Rajeev Ranjan held a meeting with officials of various departments to discuss the restrictions to be imposed.

In the meeting with public health and medical experts, they observed that restrictions should be imposed along with other measures to curb the increase of the pandemic. The Government on 08/04/21 issued the order brining in restrictions.

COVID-19 cases are close to 4,000 per day in the state.
