Kerala on Thursday, April 22, confirmed 26,995 Covid 19 cases and the test positivity rate stood at 19.97. After the Assembly elections on April 6, Kerala has been seeing a surge in Covid 19 cases.
Ernakulam district had the highest number of 4396 Covid 19 cases. Kozhikode recorded 3372 Covid 19 cases. When 2781 cases was reported from Thrissur, 2776 confirmed cases were recorded in Malappuram. Kottayam reported 2485, Thiruvananthapuram 2283, Kannur 1747, Palakkad 1518, Pathanamthitta 1246, Alappuzha 1157, Kollam 988, Idukki 931, Kasaragod 701 and Wayanad 614 covid 19 cases.

As part of the second batch test, 1,40,671 samples were collected on Wednesday from different parts of the state. Of these, 1,35,177 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Ernakulam district had the highest number of 4396 Covid 19 cases.
No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil tested positive for the Covid 19 in the last 24 hours. The state also reported 28 deaths in the last few days due to Covid-19. This brings the total death toll to 5028 in the state.
Of the confirmed cases in the state on Thursday, 275 are from outside the state. The officials said that 24,921 people got the infection through contact. The sources for 1730 are not known, they added.
They said that 69 health workers were affected on Thursday. In Kottayam, 14 health workers tested positive. When Kannur had 12 confirmed cases among health workers, Thiruvananthapuram had 11, Thrissur and Wayanad seven each, Kollam five, Kasaragod four, Palakkad and Kozhikode three each, Ernakulam two and Idukki one case.
There are currently 3,55,209 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,39,418 are under home / institutional quarantine and 15,791 in hospitals. A total of 3161 people were admitted to the hospital today.
