Corona: Positive Updates today (28/03/20)

Here are a few positive news that will bring some relief as the world is getting more depressed every day with deluge of negative news and increasing spread of the deadly virus.

Total cases: A total of 5,97,267 cases as of this morning, with 27,365 deaths in 197 countries

More people recover: As many as 133,363 people recovered. Yesterday the number was 124,326.

Mostly mild cases: 412,980 (95%) of the total active cases are still in mild condition

Indian cases: 748 active cases, 66 cured and discharged and 19 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry. As many as 15,24,266 people have been screened at the airports.

Infections decline in Italy: The country has reported 969 deaths in the last 24 hours, one of the worst daily numbers. But infection rate continues to show a downward trend. The confirmed cases increased by 7.4 percent against the 8.0 percent in previous days.

China Situation: China has reported 54 new imported coronavirus cases and only three fatalities. More importantly, there are no new locally transmitted cases. Covid-19 epicentre Hubei Province and its capital Wuhan are now being gradually opened up after kept under lockdown since January 23.

Historic drug trial: The first patients as part of a “historic” drug trial to test treatments for the coronavirus have been enrolled in Norway and Spain, according to WHO. The world body is leading a global test of four of the most promising drugs including malaria medications chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, an antiviral compound called Remdesivir, a combination of HIV drugs Lopinavir and Ritonavir and a combination of those drugs plus interferon-beta.

US Package: The United States has announced $174 million financial assistance to 64 countries including $2.9 million to India. This is in addition to the $100 million aid announced by the U.S. in February.
