BMW is set to make waves in 2024 with a comprehensive overhaul of its global line-up, presenting not only a fresh design but also a host of advanced driver assistance systems and tech upgrades for the infotainment system, tailored for Western markets.
ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
BMW’s commitment to innovation is evident in the revamped Driving Assistance Professional Package, particularly the Highway Assistant technology. Now, with the introduction of the Active Lane Change functionality, drivers can seamlessly initiate a lane change simply by looking in the mirror. This update enhances the hands-free driving experience at speeds of up to 85 mph, aligning with conditions and speed regulations.
The system prompts the driver with a recommendation for a lane change, and the groundbreaking Active Lane Change with eye activation allows the driver to execute the manoeuvre by a mere glance at the corresponding side mirror. No need to reach for the signal stalk, streamlining the driving experience. This cutting-edge feature debuts in the new 5-Series and the iX in March, followed by availability for the X5, X6 (excluding M Competition variants), and X7 in April.
INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS
The auto majors aims to elevate the user experience by strengthening the integration of Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, into its vehicles. Drivers equipped with BMW Operating System 9 can now seamlessly command Siri without the need to press a button, providing a more intuitive and hands-free interaction.
The navigation app has also undergone improvements, offering up-to-date information about charging stations with customer ratings. The My BMW App is receiving an update, incorporating Comfort Access with BMW Digital KeyPlus. The map interface has been redesigned to simplify navigation destination selection and improve search functionality. Additionally, the software will analyze customers’ driving behaviour to recommend the most suitable electric BMW model, fostering interest in transitioning from combustion-engined vehicles to electric options.
BMW’s commitment to technological advancements ensures that the 2024 line-up not only meets but exceeds the expectations of drivers, delivering a seamless blend of innovation, convenience, and driving pleasure.
