Bhutan has always inspired the world in many ways. And this time, the country has shown the world to adopt a stray dog and plant a tree. This happened on the occasion of the birthday of Bhutan King. The Monarchy has asked the people to adopt a stray dog and plant trees as birthday gifts to their king.
Bhutan recently celebrated their king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck’s 40th birthday. On the day, Prime Minister Lotay Tshering announced many welfare programmes. But when coming to presenting gifts to the monarch, the prime minister asked the citizens to adopt a stray dog and plant trees. Lotay Tshering said that this would be the best gift that the people could give their king.
When coming to stray dogs, Bhutan government has worked along with Humane Society International (HIS). The HIS had envisaged a programme for the management of stray dogs.
The Humane Society International said that the gesture shown by the Bhutan King was significant. The Society also said that it was a perfect way to celebrate a birthday.
This is not the first time that Bhutan King has asked his people to plant trees. In 2016, the king had asked the citizens to plant trees on the birth of his first son.
