As part of improving the customs clearance of imported goods and facilitating international passengers, the Centre has introduced ICEDASH and ATITHI, which is expected to provide better service.
ICEDASH is an Ease of Doing Business system of the Customs Department. The system would help the people to check daily clearance times of cargo at the various ports and airports. ICEDASH is an effective tool that helps people to compare the clearance times and plan their logistics accordingly. The ICEDASH dashboard has been developed by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs in collaboration with NIC. The dashboard can be accessed from CBIC website.
ATITHI is an easy to use mobile application for travellers to file Customs declaration in advance. Even before boarding the flight to India, the passengers can file declaration with respect to dutiable items. The application is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
Launching ICEDASH and ATITHI, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman lauded the CBIC for such measures that help in improving the services. She said that ICEDASH and ATITHI would help in further improving the whole system as the whole mechanism becomes more transparent. She also mentioned that ATITHI would help in encouraging business travel and tourism.
