When the whole world is in lockdown and all hospitals exclusively earmarked for treating corona patients, a Keralaite working in the UK flew down to Kozhikode in Kerala for treatment for Gastrointestinal ailments.
Prasad Das, an IT professional working in Nottingham, reached Kozhikode two days back in a chartered flight. A native of Vadakara, Das was admitted to a private hospital in the City after necessary tests for coronavirus. He flew to Kerala after treatment was not possible in the UK because of Coronavirus outbreak. He had undergone treatment at the private hospital about a year ago.
The district administration along with the state health department had completed all the formalities and the permission for his travel. Prasad’s wife and child accompanied him.
Prasad’s travel was made possible because of the efforts of a WhatsApp group — Distress Management Collective. The group is led by former Supreme Court judge Kurian Joseph and former union minister Alphons Kannanthanam. Once they came across the issue, they got all the required clearances from various ministries in lighting speed.
Kannanthanam was quoted as saying that they were approached by Tom Aditya, the Kerala origin mayor of Bradley Stoke. He had asked for making arrangements for Prasad’s travel to India for treatment.
